Scorchblade of the Fire Dragon

In the tavern, Orion, drinking a red wine, dealt with an old man dressed in a gray robe. The old man told a tale about the enchanted fire sword, called “Scorchblade of the Fire Dragon”. He instructed that the fire sword was made by fire spells controlled by dragon wizards in the Lost Island of Firedrake around the Sea of Fire. Furthermore, to make his true story believable, he told him that he witnessed the work of the dragon wizards in that island many years ago.

Orion believed him. He had wished for the mightiest weapon before he already heard the tale from an old man. Excited, he set off in the next morning to purchase a ship in the docks. He hired his crew, and invited his friends to join the sea adventure.

Orion left the city, knowing that the Lost Island of Firedrake was around Sea of Fire. In certain cautiousness, he grew nervous because the Lost Island could be forbidden and dangerous. He taught his navigator to point an uncharted place many miles away on a tattered local map. Four days later when his crew starved, he found an island in the distant horizon. Gleefully but apprehensively, he told his men to sail towards the island. An hour passed, they anchored by the shore to prevent their ship from being stuck on a shallow beach. Orion and his comrades used a rowboat instead of swimming. They stopped at the beach, and left their boat tied on a boulder. Meanwhile, the hungry crew fetched more food from nearby jungle—fruits and meat.

Strolling around the island for many hours to search for the enchanted sword, Orion thought that this island was totally inhabited. On the contrary, he thought that old man had tricked him recently, so he grew angry because of the deception.

It was late afternoon. On a large, barren area—the badlands—he heard a few fiery voices and explosions coming from above the steep mountain. He looked up to discover whatever the noise emanated. This mountain was not really a mountain anymore. It was a volcano. He found an incline that leads up to the volcanic cone. A hand-made steep incline wasn’t supposed to be here naturally. Now, he regretfully believed the old man’s tale said that somebody lived in the island long ago. Walking up the steep volcano alone, he felt tired of climbing. Several minutes later, He found a razor sword with a gold dragon handle, impaled on a rectangular stone with old inscriptions which he couldn’t understand. He pulled it out entirely after five tries, but then the volcano quaked. Heaps of smoke rose from inside the cone. Pulling out the sword activated a booby trap.

Orion fled and dodged from falling big rocks and landslides. Eroding inclines impacted by heavy rocks horrified him. He successfully made his way on where he started, with his slight nicks around his exposed red scales. Screamed in terror, he and his companions ran away hurriedly before the lava shoots out of the cone. And then they safely landed on higher escarpments far away from the danger zone. Luckily, the volcano calmed down, and no lava emerged, except an ashy smoke still clouding the atmosphere.

Curiously, Orion felt a magical force from the enchanted sword he stole. When he used his own energy by spell, the Scorchblade’s razor steel began to flame up completely, and it increases its brightness and ignition. When he released his capableness, the burning sword extinguished. This amused his crew and his friends in the ship. From now on, the adventurous quest was accomplished. He began to use it significantly as he became invincible. But he required more practice on how to use the enchanted sword delicately and carefully.
